THE CAUSE, INC
DAN from Virginia
Hi all,
I'm so excited over what has happened I just had to share this with everyone !!!
Wahoooo!!
a little about me.... (Dan's personal information has been left out to protect his privacy)
I was very depressed to the point of becoming disabled. I later developed heart and lung problems
and I'm sorry to say, I live on a very small Government check each month. Too bad Uncle Sam
finds fossils on Mars more important than people in need right here !
Anyway, ....
My Doctor has encouraged me to pursue a hobby of some sort in hopes it would help with my
depression. So, since I like aquariums, and plants both, planted aquariums seemed a logical
choice. Unfortunately, being disabled, money is very very limited.
I started researching the costs of it all ...... I was about to give up completely. I was sunk before I
could really get started. I really wanted to get into this, but, except for some plants someone here
was kind enough to send for free, ( Bless you Donna !) I simply couldn't afford to buy what I
needed to set up and maintain my barren 55 gallon tank ! I can't even afford fish !!
Well, it just so happened I accidently came across a link while ......... that lead me to a website
called "The Cause". They are an organization who's goal is helping others in a low income,
and/or elderly situations to get into the aquarium hobby .. plainly from a theraputic point of view !
I checked their website out (mostly just out of idle curiosity) and I began wondering if they were
legitimate and if they would really help me? I thought " ahhh what-the-heck" maybe it was worth a
try? So, I reluctently wrote to them. On the subject line I wrote: "Welfare recipient needing help." I
thought that they'd probably never help someone like me... and I'll probably never hear back from
them anyway ! hahaha !!!
But, to my surprise! They wrote me back the very next day ! When they said "they could probably
help" I was shocked ! After a few weeks of corresponding with them back and forth, I've found
them to be very serious about helping others! They are personable, warm, kind, caring
individuals with a real mission in life to help others receive aquariums, plants, fish, and whatever
for setup and maintenance but, can't afford to do it themselves.
Well, To make a long story short....! These people are amazing ! I actually received a wonderful
package this past Friday for my 55 gallon tank containing .....driftwood , a heater I badly
needed, (that's brand new) , an assortment of ...... snails (the largest I've ever seen) .... food, ... a
fantastic assosrtment of very healthy plants, .......... and much more. Also, they will be shipping
me some fish in a couple of weeks . It was Christmas Day at Dan's last friday !! and I haven't had a
birthday, Thanksgiving or Christmas since ................ I had truely forgotten how awesome it feels to
receive such wonderful gifts. I am absolutely amazed. There is no way I could afford to buy all this
stuff I needed on my own ............. I am so thankful to Aquatic Plant Central for having the link to
the Cause's information ! It's been tremendous help to me and The Cause has been an absolute
miracle for me. They have a wonderful goal, and mission "of loving others by helping them"
With all my heart and being, I urge and encourage everyone of you reading this to support The
Cause anyway you can. There are NO other support groups like this anywhere else. So many
folks like me need their help. They badly need donations of all kinds from you so they can reach
out to others in need also.
My Doctor is even surprised at how much my depression has lifted.
